EXPERIMENTAL MERCHANDISE DESIGN FOR ISAI
THIS EXPERIMENT EXPLORED HOW TO INTEGRATE COMPANY BRANDING WITH ENCODED GRAPHICS — SPECIFICALLY, WHETHER LOGOS COULD BE LAYERED OVER SCANNABLE PATTERNS WITHOUT DISRUPTING THEIR FUNCTION. WE TESTED THIS IN A REAL-WORLD CONTEXT BY DESIGNING A CUSTOM SHIRT FOR ISAI.
AS FASHION MERGES WITH DIGITAL TOOLS, THE CHALLENGE IS HOW TO MAINTAIN BRANDING WHILE ENABLING INTERACTIVE, SCANNABLE FEATURES. TRADITIONAL LOGOS CAN CLASH VISUALLY OR DISRUPT ENCODED STRUCTURES.
WE DEVELOPED A METHOD FOR LAYERING SVG LOGOS ON TOP OF ENCODED GRAPHICS USING VECTOR EDITING TOOLS, PRESERVING SCANNABILITY WHILE INTRODUCING BRAND IDENTITY.
CREATED ENCODED GRAPHICS AS A BASE LAYER USING SPOT VISION'S DESIGN PIPELINE, THEN OVERLAID BRANDED SVG LOGOS WITH PRECISE OPACITY AND BLEND MODE ADJUSTMENTS.
CONDUCTED MULTIPLE SCANNABILITY TESTS USING PHONES AND COMPUTER VISION TOOLS TO ENSURE THE ENCODED DATA REMAINED FUNCTIONAL BENEATH THE BRANDED OVERLAY.
THE FINAL COMPOSITION WAS ASSEMBLED IN PHOTOSHOP, LAYERING THE LOGO OVER A RED ENCODED PATTERN WITH CONTRAST ADJUSTMENTS FOR CLARITY. WE PRINTED THE GRAPHIC ONTO A T-SHIRT, ENSURING ENCODING FUNCTIONALITY IN VARIOUS LIGHTING CONDITIONS.
ISAI WORN THE SHIRT FOR EXTENDED REAL-WORLD TESTING, PROVIDING VALUABLE FEEDBACK ON BOTH AESTHETICS AND TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE.
